Andrea Brillantes addresses criticism over 'hacked' Instagram stunt
Andrea Brillantes did not mince words when she addressed the criticism that came after she debuted her musical alter ego, "Ramona."
The actress, as Ramona, released her pop-rock single GAGA on March 9, and ahead of this, she blacked out her Instagram page, deleting her past posts and profile photo. This led some users to speculate that her Instagram was hacked, while others thought it was a supposed PR stunt.
"Hacker reveal. Ramona nga pala.. isang GAGA!" a post launching the @sabingakosiramona Instagram account read.
On March 10, Ramona addressed online chatter in a series of Instagram stories.
"I had a great time interacting with you guys for a while! Sa mga nagsasabing 'baduy,' 'anti-climactic,' or 'PR stunt lang to,' maybe you just didn't get the point," she wrote, clarifying that Andrea's account wasn't hacked.
"Sa mga nagsasabi na 'yun na 'on? [Akala] ko hacked?' '[B]aduy.' Maybe it feels underwhelming kasi may hinihintay talaga kayo. Leaked conversations. Chismis. Konting scandal. Konting downfall ni Andrea Brillantes. Napaghahalataan ang ugali ng iba dyan [uy]."
She then went on to comment on those slamming her music.
"For the people saying walang substance and walang kwenta 'yung kanta, I actually agree with you! Because around 80% of the lyrics I wrote were just the same non-substantial things people have been saying about her (Andrea) for years," Ramona continued.
"GAGA is supposed to annoy haters, because it was made for you."
The new track follows a persona who is the subject of gossip and bashing. Andrea shared that she wrote the song four years ago as "a form of release."
"Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat! At salamat din kay self, kasi finally nilabas ko rin siya. Akala ko mabubulok na lang 'yan eh."
Apart from her new music, Andrea is starring in a new show, A Secret in Prague, with Enrique Gil.
