Heart Evangelista's mom on attending daughter's vow renewal ceremony with Chiz Escudero
Heart Evangelista and her mom Cecilia Ongpauco shared a heartwarming moment before the latter walked her down the aisle for her renewal of vows with Chiz Escudero.
The actress released a compilation of highlights of the ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 17. In the middle part of the video made by Bob Nicolas and his team, she and her mom can be seen hugging each other before the wedding and talking about being with Heart to celebrate her love with Chiz this time around.
"So happy for her, and I'm happier because I'm around to witness this," Cecilia said.
"Finally, I arrived," she told Heart. "Nine years too late, but made it still."
Cecilia and Heart are then seen turning emotional as they walked down the aisle hand-in-hand at the ceremony.
Heart previously revealed that her parents skipped her wedding with Chiz in February 2015 as they did not want her to be in a relationship with the politician. In a 2021 vlog, however, Cecilia expressed her support for their love, saying that what she likes about their marriage is he “allows [Heart] to grow, mature on her own.”
Heart and Chiz renewed their vows on Thursday, Feb. 15 at Balesin Island, which also served as their wedding venue in 2015.
According to Chiz, it was a way to celebrate all the good news they've been receiving lately. “Only because we have a lot of things to celebrate which I guess we would be able to say or announce in the next couple of months to our friends. It's not really something that the public needs to know, coming from us, but there's a lot to celebrate in life right now," he shared in an interview with broadcast journalist Karen Davila last month.
It came almost two years after breakup speculations between them spread on social media for months. The rumors began in 2022 when the actress removed “Escudero” from her Instagram name. They circulated even further after she admitted she was going through some “personal struggles” and revealed she bought her own place in Paris.
She indirectly shut down the rumors in December of the same year by posting a photo of herself with the caption: “Walking around Paris before heading home for New Year. P.S. See you soon, @escuderochiz.”
The couple welcomed 2023 as a couple and have since been spotted in several locations together.
