BLACKPINK Jisoo denies link to brother's alleged sexual abuse cases
BLACKPINK Jisoo, through her agency's legal representative, has denied involvement in his brother's alleged sexual abuse cases.
Lawyer Eun Hyun-ho, representing Jisoo's agency BLISSUE, released a statement saying the issue is unrelated to the artist.
"The artist began her trainee life at a young age, became independent early, and has lived apart from her family for a long time. She is unaware of and cannot be involved in the private matters of the individual in question," the statement read.
The agency said that Jisoo had limited interaction with her family, but maintained the agency's independence.
"While the artist received limited advice and acted as a messenger for some conversations from family members during BLISSUE’s establishment process, there is no fact that any family member received compensation from BLISSUE or participated in decision-making. Since then, BLISSUE has been operated completely independently without any connection to family members." Eun continued.
The agency also denied rumors saying Jisoo's brother is a BLISSUE executive, noting that the company has no relationship with the person whatsoever. "The individual currently has no legal or managerial relationship with BLISSUE. BLISSUE and the artist are not providing any financial or legal support to the individual, nor do they plan to do so in the future." Eun added.
BLISSUE also issued a warning against spreading misinformation involving the South Korean singer-actress.
“Continuously spreading false information or linking the artist’s name, image, or likeness to unrelated matters constitutes a clear infringement of rights and defamation. We will immediately take all possible civil and criminal legal actions," his statement concluded.
Korea Herald reported Jisoo’s brother, surnamed Kim, was arrested on Wednsday, Apr. 15 due to alleged sexual assault of a female streamer in his Seoul home. There is also a separate case of domestic violence involving his wife.
BLISSUE is BLACKPINK Jisoo's entertainment agency established in 2024 after her exclusive contract with YG Entertainment was terminated.
Jisoo is one of four members of BLACKPINK that debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment. They’re best known for their hit songs How You Like That, Kill This Love, and DDU-DU DDU-DU. They last dropped by the country for a two-day show at the same venue in January last year.
She is currently starring in the Netflix drama series Boyfriend on Demand alongside actor Seo In-guk.
