Gerald Anderson, who has been known for his philanthropic efforts and heroic acts especially during calamities, explained why he has no interest in entering politics.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the actor said he has no plans of being a politician due to his lack of knowledge and experience as he pointed out the complexity of the field.

“I’m just happy to be in a position where I can also help. Nagagamit ko naman 'yung platform ko eh. May mga kaibigan ako in politics,” he began.

“I know it’s very hard, napakahirap nun, and I wouldn’t jump into something na hindi ako handa or hindi ko pinag-aralan because people’s lives are at stake,” he continued.

Gerald has been spotted joining rescue operations during calamities through the years. His most recent heroic act was when he helped a stranded family evacuate during the onslaught of monsoon and Super Typhoon Carina last July.

“It’s not really a reason, dahil lang lumubog ka sa baha, para pasukin ko ‘yung isang bagay na wala akong alam or hindi ko napag-aralan,” Gerald stressed.

The actor also offered a helping hand to his neighbors in Quezon City during Typhoon Ondoy in 2009.

Gerald has been a part of the Philippine Coast Guard since 2016 and got promoted to auxiliary commander in 2021. In August, he was awarded a Search and Rescue Medal for his heroic acts amid the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina.

He is currently working on his initiative, “Got Game 3x3,” which aims to spotlight basketball talents across the country. He is also gearing up for his teleserye comeback with the Nobody TV series.
