Wrong Daniel: Daniel Matsunaga receives hilarious messages from KathNiel fans following breakup
As the world is still reeling from shock over the breakup of reel-to-real couple Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, many fans understandably want more answers, but it seems that some of them asked the wrong person.
On his Facebook account, model and actor Daniel Matsunaga reminded the supporters of the ex-couple that he and Daniel Padilla are different people.
"Guys, there are many Daniels sa buong mundo. Iba po 'yung surname ko talaga promise. Salamat pows. God bless," Matsunaga wrote.
He posted a series of screenshots of his inbox that had been bombarded with questions from fans asking him the reason behind KathNiel's separation.
Some of the messages include, "Idol, bakit kayo naghiwalay ni Kathryn?", "Break na daw kayo ni Kathryn?", and "Pre, ano nangyari sa inyo ni Kathryn?"
Others meanwhile aired their frustrations at Matsunaga regarding the rumor that Andrea Brillantes was the reason behind the pair's breakup: "Si Andrea ba?", "Idol, bakit ba kasi nambabae ka?", and "Bakit niyo naman po nagawang manloko?"
Following weeks of swirling breakup rumors, both Bernardo and Padilla finally broke their silence in separate Instagram posts detailing why they ended their 11-year relationship.
Bernardo explained that she and Padilla decided to call it quits as they simply drifted apart despite their best efforts to keep the flame alive.
"Like any other relationship, we tried our best to make it work. We've been drifting apart for a while now, and we ultimately had to accept that we can't go back to where we used to be. It just won't be fair to pretend that everything is still the same," the actress detailed.
Nevertheless, she emphasized that their love story "began with respect and ended with respect."
Padilla, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude towards their fans and highlighted that he will still care for his ex-girlfriend despite the breakup.
"Bal, ang pagmamahal ko sa'yo ay walang hanggan at walang katapusan," he wrote.
The breakup between Kathryn and Daniel was first brought up by talent manager Ogie Diaz through his supposed source. While he clarified there was no confirmation regarding this, Ogie cited an insider again as he mentioned the name of Brillantes, who’s supposedly secretly meeting with Daniel.
Since then, there have been some developments that further fueled the rumors, such as Andrea appearing to have unfollowed Kathryn on Instagram amid the issue. In turn, Kathryn, along with her celebrity friends Loisa Andalio and Miles Ocampo, had also cut the communication lines with Andrea.
Bernardo and Padilla debuted as a love team in 2011 for the teleserye Growing Up and have since starred in more shows and movies. They confirmed their relationship in 2018.
