Shiloh, the daughter of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, had a newspaper announcement published about her decision to drop “Pitt” from her surname.

According to a report by PEOPLE Magazine, the announcement was made in the Los Angeles Times newspaper, stating that she has formally requested to change her name to “Shiloh Jolie.”

The media outlet reported that it’s in compliance with California law, which states that one must have their petition for name change in the legal notice part of a newspaper for a month before its approval.

Shiloh filed the request on May 27, when she turned 18 and became a legal adult. A source close to the actor told PEOPLE that Pitt is "aware and upset" about his daughter's decision.

Shiloh isn't only the former couple's child dropping the surname "Pitt" as their youngest daughter Vivienne also had her name appear as "Vivienne Jolie" in the playbill for the new Broadway musical The Outsiders.

Angelina and Brad got together after co-starring in the 2005 movie Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Apart from Shiloh and Vivienne, they share four other children: Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Knox.

The couple fell apart in September 2016 when Angelina accused Brad of raping her during a plane trip from France to Los Angeles and claimed that he "physically and verbally" assaulted her and their kids.

Despite being ruled legally single in 2019, the two actors' legal battle did not stop there as Brad sued Angelina for allegedly selling her portion of their shared winery, Chateau Miraval, without consulting him.
