No Scrubs: '90s icons Chilli of TLC, actor Matthew Lawrence in a relationship
No scrubs for Chilli, it seems, as the American singer is officially dating Boy Meets World actor Matthew Lawrence.
Christal Jordan, a representative for Chilli or Rozonda Thomas in real life, confirmed the news to several entertainment outlets.
“I’ve been with Chilli since 2005 and I’ve never seen her this in love,” Jordan is quoted as saying. “She is glowing. They are really cute together.”
Jordan said Chilli, 51, and Matthew, 42, started dating just before Thanksgiving in November, during which they spent the holiday together. They also spent Christmas together, with Matthew meeting with Chilli's family in Atlanta.
The couple was first spotted in Hawaii last August, relaxing in a beach.
They then made it Instagram official on New Year's Eve, with Chili and Matthew posting a video of them lip-syncing and dancing to A-ha's Take on Me while in onesies. They also used a filter like in the original music video and added the hashtags #newyearsshenanigans, #onesiegang, and #wecute.
Matthew is previously married to professional dancer Cheryl Bruke. Cheryl filed for divorce in February 2022 after three years of marriage, and was finalized in September.
Chilli's last public relationship was with fellow singer Usher in 2001. They broke up in 2003, with Chilli saying Usher cheated on her. She also has a son named Tron, born 1997, from her previous relationship with music producer Dallas Austin.
Chilli and Matthew are among the biggest stars of the '90s.
Chilli is part of TLC, the commercially and critically acclaimed girl trio, alongside Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and the late Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. TLC is the best-selling American girl group, having sold over 65 million records, and has won several Grammys, MTV Video Music Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards. The group's best hits include Waterfalls, No Scrubs, and Creep.
Matthew, meanwhile, is part of the Lawrence brothers alongside the older Joey and the younger Andrew. They starred in the 1995 sitcom Brotherly Love and went on their respective showbiz careers. Matthew eventually landed a main role in the 1997 sitcom, Boy Meets World. He also appeared in the 1993 movie Mrs. Doubtfire.
