Liza Soberano warns netizen who wished her ill: 'Be careful with what you say'

"Be careful with what you say."

Those were the words that Liza Soberano had to say to a netizen who wished her to be raped or to lose a loved one.

The ill-mannered comment was posted by a certain @lizapokpok4ever on Liza's latest YouTube vlog, which documents her experience during her stay in New York City.

The user was pointing to the rumor that Liza has broken up with her boyfriend Enrique Gil and left him for James Reid, who is now her talent manager.

"Sana magahasa yang si Liza sa US o kaya mamatay ‘yung sister niya o kaya daddy niya. Malandi eh, iniwan si Quen para kay James," the anonymous user wrote.

The comment, which has since been deleted, proved too much for Liza to simply turn a blind eye to. She replied, "[I] don’t normally reply to stuff like this. Just wanted to say, be careful with what you say and do to other people."

This is not the first time that the actress had received foul remarks of this nature. Back in 2020, Liza had formally filed a criminal complaint against an online user who made a rape comment about her.

The comment, which was posted back when Liza had a problem with her previous internet provider Converge, read "wala tayong magagawa, wala ng trabaho, kaya 'di bale ng masira ang image, magkapera lang. Sarap ipa-rape sa mga…ewan!"

Explaining her decision to file a complaint in an interview with Karen Davila, Liza asserted, "The issue here is rape. I don't think that I can just let that pass because for me the reason why I want to pursue this case is because I wanted to take a stand for all the silent victims of rape, of rape jokes, of misogyny."

"And I feel like it's about time that it ends because rape is not funny. There's nothing funny about joking about it," she added.

Earlier this year, the actress landed in hot water with the Filipino public after she opened up about how she felt about her showbiz career as a whole, with many calling her "ungrateful."

However, some of her loyal fans have showered her with support and encouraged her to keep pursuing what she believes will make her happy.

"She is the true definition of the words 'where there is will, there's a way'. Will always and always love and support her, no other celebrity can bring a smile on my face like she does," one user wrote.

Another commented, "I love you so much. I’ve been admiring you since I was 13, and now I’m 20. I have no regrets watching you from afar and growing up idolizing you! I really wish to see you in person, and I wish for your happiness and success."

Liza, who is currently based in Los Angeles, is starting her career in Hollywood with the upcoming film Lisa Frankenstein. She stars alongside Cole Sprouse and Kathryn Newton in the film.
