Dolly de Leon has expressed her support for Liza Soberano on the latter's attempt to start an acting career in Hollywood.

During a May 23 interview on Julius Babao UNPLUGGED, the titular media personality talked to Dolly about her humble beginnings as an actress to recently making a name for herself internationally.

Julius then asked Dolly about her opinion on love teams as well as Liza's controversial statements regarding these.

"It also matters that we tell other stories so that everyone is represented, hindi lang ang love teams, at kaya hindi rin ako pabor na mawala siya. If some people think na it's not right or it's not good for them, then they don't have to do it. But for other people it works, so it's fine," Dolly began.

The Triangle of Sadness breakout star added that there's still value in love teams as long as people can relate to their stories, including the youth.

"But whatever she (Liza) said, it's her truth and we have to respect it. We should allow people to voice whatever. I mean, like me, I've been voicing out so many things, 'di ba? So why not also give her that space? She deserves to speak her truth," Dolly said.

The actress also affirmed her colleague's freedom to express herself.

"For me, I mean kung marami siyang negative feelings or hinanakit, it's only human for us to talk about that and be honest about our experiences. There's nothing wrong with that," Dolly added.

The host noted that Liza wishes to penetrate Hollywood while Dolly was able to, which the latter quickly clarified: "Actually, naka-penetrate na siya sa Hollywood. Meron siyang... Lisa Frankenstein. Malapit na 'yan. Baka before you know it, andiyan na siya. And just the fact na she was able to do Lisa Frankenstein, that's promising already. Naka-build na siya ng seeds diyan. May mga susunod na 'yan."

Dolly revealed that she has met Liza twice, working with her professionally in Bagani and Alone/Together but haven't had the chance to become friends or interact beyond work.

Asked about her advice to aspiring actors, the thespian said to assess one's motivations for becoming an artista, study and research, find ways to improve and pursue one's craft, keep one's horizons wide, as well as be kind and hard-working.

"Tanggap ako nang tanggap ng trabaho. Whenever you accept work, you are connected to more people. So lumalawak 'yung network mo. If you keep accepting, parang you're planting seeds. And then more work pops up. So that's why hindi talaga pwede maging choosy," she advised.

Dolly gained international recognition along with Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations for her performance in Triangle of Sadness.

US Magazine Town & Country recently named Liza as one of the "exciting young actors" in Hollywood.
