Ariana Grande celebrates grandma's feat of becoming oldest person on Billboard Hot 100
Ariana Grande is one proud granddaughter of her 98-year-old grandma who recently made history as the oldest living person to hit Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
In case you missed it, Marjorie Grande, who is also known as Nonna, earned the title in March with her feature on Ariana's track Ordinary Things.
On Instagram, Ariana shared the delightful news that Nonna has now been gifted a framed plaque to cement her achievement. It features a smiling picture of herself next to the red vinyl record of her granddaughter's seventh studio album.
The display also included a picture of how Ordinary Things made it to the 55th spot in Billboard's chart.
"Celebrating the one and only, most beautiful Nonna who has now made history for being the senior most person to ever appear on the Billboard Hot 100. We love and thank you," Ariana captioned her post, adding several emojis of a crying face with tears of joy in its eyes.
The track focuses on the singer reflecting on the little things in life and in a relationship. Nonna's part comes at the very end of the song, where she gave Ariana some love advice, including never going to bed "without kissin' goodnight" as she looked back on her relationship with her late husband Frank.
Nonna's title previously belonged to the late Fred Stobaugh, who was 96 when the song he wrote Oh Sweet Lorraine landed on the Hot 100 chart at No. 42 for a week in 2013.
On her decision to include her grandmother in the song, Ariana explained in an interview with radio DJ Zane Lowe, "I think it’s a little bit of, ‘Wow, our loved ones, our friends and our family have the ability to instantly just sort of soothe and calm and simplify things that are so complicated and heavy at times."
She shared that she enjoys recording her grandma because "you never know what she's going to say."
Ariana also had Nonna featured in her past two songs Daydreamin' (from Yours Truly) in 2013 and Bloodline (from Thank U, Next) in 2019.
