Elton John reveals he has ‘limited vision’ after ‘severe eye infection’
Five-time Grammy winner Elton John has been left with “limited vision” in one eye from a severe eye infection.
The 77-year-old singer shared on Instagram that his healing process will be slow, and it may take some time for his sight to return.
"I am grateful for the excellent team of doctors and nurses and my family, who have taken such good care of me over the last several weeks," he said.
"I have been quietly spending the summer recuperating at home and am feeling positive about the progress I have made in my healing and recovery so far," Elton added.
His severe eye infection came after he was hospitalized last year from suffering "a slip" at his Mont Boron villa outside of France. Hospitalized briefly for precautionary measures, Elton was released in good health.
"I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications," he said in a post on X.
Numerous fans and fellow stars, including fashion designer Donatella Versace, American singer-songwriter Chapell Roan, and English lyricist Bernie Taupin, sent well wishes and love for the Tiny Dancer hitmaker in the comments section.
Donatella commented: "Take your time and recover, Elton. We’ll be here waiting for your return when you’re healthy and ready."
Chapell said, "We love you," while Bernie commented, "Get back on track good buddy."
Elton is also known as the “Rocket Man” after his 1972 hit song with the same name made in collaboration with Bernie since 1967, marking it as one the most successful songs in the history of music.
