Former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson welcomes premature twins after rare pregnancy complications
Jesy Nelson, a former member of the girl group Little Mix, gave birth to twin daughters on May 15 following health risks associated with her pregnancy.
"So, our beautiful baby girls decided to come at 31 weeks plus 5 days," Nelson, 26, and her boyfriend, rapper Zion Foster, 33, wrote in a collaborative Instagram post on May 18.
"It all happened so quickly, but we are so blessed that they are here with us, healthy and fighting strong! We’ve never felt more in love," they said.
"Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster. Born on 15.05.2025," the couple added.
The post has a photo of Nelson and Foster carrying each of the twins.
Nelson also shared the post in her Instagram Story, set to Lionel Richie's Truly.
Nelson and Foster have been in a relationship since 2022.
She announced her pregnancy last January and said she was experiencing rare complications during the twin pregnancy, BBC reported. In March, she said she had undergone an operation to prevent complications related to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, TTTS occurs in pregnancies where twins share one placenta and a network of blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients essential for development in the womb. Sometimes, the vessel connections within the placenta are not evenly dispensed, causing an imbalance in the blood exchange between the twins.
One twin, or the donor twin, gives away more blood than it receives in return, running the risk of malnourishment and organ failure. The recipient twin, meanwhile, receives too much blood, becoming susceptible to overwork of the heart and other cardiac complications.
At the time, Nelson also announced that her twins were monochorionic diamniotic, or sharing one placenta but having their separate sacs.
In 2020, Nelson left Little Mix after being a member for nine years, or since the group's debut on the reality show X Factor in 2011. She cited mental health as the reason for leaving, as the "constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations" was "very hard" for her.
Nelson embarked on a solo career in 2021.
