11-month-old child and family dog die after being left in hot car by caregiver for 6 hours
An 11-month-old baby girl and a family dog passed away after their caregiver left them inside a hot vehicle by themselves for six hours.
According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, Kristen Danielle Graham from Virginia was tasked to take care of the baby named Myrical Wicker and the dog when 17-year-old mother Arianna was not around.
Last week, Graham left the baby and their pet unattended in a hot car from early morning to early afternoon.
Police said in a press conference that an elderly man that they were living with rushed Myrical to the hospital later in the day and told them he had a deceased child in the back of his vehicle—and that vehicle was parked right at the entrance to the emergency room doors."
The emergency room staff found the baby's dead body inside a black plastic trash bag placed in the rear hatch of the car.
Graham has been arrested on a felony count of child neglect and a misdemeanor count of animal cruelty last week.
A “thorough investigation” into the case is still ongoing.
