Dead grandmother wakes up while body was being transferred to temple
The family of an 85-year-old grandmother in Thailand was ready to mourn her death, but it turned out that she still has more years to live as she suddenly woke up while she was being moved to a temple.
According to a report by local news outlet Khaosod Online, Pua Sriphueng was found unresponsive for nearly an hour in Buriram Province.
Despite attempts by her granddaughter, Sommai Dee-la-at, to wake her up, Sriphueng seemingly remained lifeless, so her family concluded that she had passed away and called their relatives to pay their respects.
Dee-la-at then contacted the rescue team to have her grandmother's body transported to a nearby temple for religious ceremonies.
Sriphueng, however, suddenly sprang to life after 40 minutes, much to the astonishment of her family as well as the neighboring villagers.
Sharing what she experienced during the time that she was "dead," Sriphueng recounted to the news team that she had "met a monk, talked to him, and the monk had come to see her off."
Her behavior became vastly different after she came back to life, displaying mannerisms that resembled that of a child such as being cranky, wanting to be held, and craving sweet treats.
Her family believes that her good deeds and merits in life led her to being "reborn."
Sriphueng's family invited monks for chants and alms in their home as gratitude for their grandmother's second chance at life.
According to Dee-la-at, Sriphueng currenltly lives alone in her single-story concrete house. While her granddaughter usually comes to take care of her after her husband passed away, she is said to be in "good physical condition."
