Moira Dela Torre breaks silence on falling-out with showbiz friends, alleged involvement in Sam-Catriona breakup
Moira Dela Torre has finally addressed the falling-out between her and some of her showbiz friends in the past year, expressing hope that they can reconcile in the future.
The singer-songwriter spoke about the issue during a press conference for her upcoming concert, Where It All Started, which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on Oct. 4.
Rumors of a falling-out circulated online in early 2025, when eagle-eyed social media users noticed that some of Moira's celebrity friends unfollowed her on Instagram—including Sam Milby, Yeng Constantino, Erik Santos, and TJ Monterde. It came amid reports about Moira's departure from Cornerstone Entertainment, the talent management company that also represents some of the artists involved.
When asked if she had done or said anything that pushed her friends to unfollow her, Moira simply replied, “No, I didn't.”
She addressed speculation that she had talked about them behind their backs. “I opened up to a close friend of mine, but I didn't backstab anyone. Not in that way. I wouldn't do that. They're all safe with me. So, it was just one close friend, one. But it wasn't that way. Not that way,” she said.
She also chose to keep the details of their falling-out private. “And whatever happened between all of that, I would like that to be between us. Because I still believe that I still love them very much. And I'm very happy for all of their successes,” she said.
Moira acknowledged that she may have done some things that hurt her then-friends while she was going through a difficult period.
“For me, I'm still hopeful that none of us really burned bridges. And a lot of us just need a little bit of time. I think a lot of us just hurt differently. And ako po, I acknowledge that there were things na nagawa ko po when I was hurting na hindi ko po sinasadya. And there were things na hindi ko po sila masisisi for how they reacted, and that's okay,” she said.
Despite the falling-out, Moira said she still believes that their friendships were genuine.
“I know that what we all had was real. They're all good people, and I'm really, really grateful for the memories that we all had and shared,” she said.
When asked who should be blamed for what happened, Moira took responsibility for her part.
“Huwag din po natin ilagay sa kanila na nasaktan ko sila. Kasalanan ko po. Kunin na natin 'yan,” she said. “Wala po silang ginawang masama [about] all the unfollowing.”
“And I'm so hopeful for reconciliation someday,” she continued.
On her alleged involvement in Sam-Catriona breakup
Separately, Moira addressed the long-running speculation that she was involved in the breakup of Sam Milby and Catriona Gray.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph, Moira firmly denied being a third party in the former couple's relationship.
“Hindi po ako third party kay Kuya Sam at kay Cat. Alam ko po 'yung nangyari sa kanilang dalawa, but that's not my story to tell. And I will protect them,” she said. “At wala rin pong third party sa kanilang dalawa.”
Moira admitted that the issue affected her friendship with Sam. "Nami-miss ko po 'yung kuya ko,” she added.
The singer expressed her frustration over being dragged into the issue. “Hindi naman po totoo 'yun eh.”
Sam and Catriona confirmed their relationship in 2020 and announced their engagement in 2023. Two years later in February 2025, Sam confirmed that they were no longer together.
Social media users connected Moira to their breakup as the falling-out with her showbiz friends happened around the same time. Speculation grew after a February 2025 video from an event appeared to show Catriona passing by Moira without greeting her. Sam later confirmed that he and Moira were no longer friends, but clarified that she was not a third party in his then-relationship with Catriona.
