Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and more honored as Disney Legends
Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, the Jonas Brothers, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and more have officially joined the ranks of Disney Legends.
Eleven honorees were recognized for their contributions to the 102-year-old media conglomerate at the 2026 Disney Legends Awards on Aug.16 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, as part of the D23 fan event.
Hathaway was hailed particularly for her role as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries and its 2004 sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. She also starred as the White Queen in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass.
During the ceremony, Hathaway became emotional as she accepted the award, expressing gratitude for the opportunities that have shaped her career. She was introduced by David Frankel, who directed The Devil Wears Prada and its sequel.
"How lucky am I that my first studio picture ever starred perhaps the greatest Disney Legend of all time, the incomparable Julie Andrews," the actress said. "I learned so much from her when I was just 17, and from the time that I met her at the first readthrough, she showed me that kindness, patience, friendliness, graciousness, good humor, and hard work were an unbeatable combination."
Hathaway added that she was lucky to have later booked The Devil Wears Prada, where she starred alongside Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt.
"I've gotten to spend my life so far doing what I love, having so many adventures along the way, knowing joy and valuing the extraordinary good fortune that allows me to share my life with my greatest blessing: a family I couldn't love more."
Meanwhile, Johnson was inducted as a Disney Legend for his work in films including The Game Plan, Jungle Cruise, Race to Witch Mountain, and Moana, where he voiced the demigod Maui.
During his speech, the WWE star also celebrated his daughter Simone, who turned 25 on Aug. 14, and led the audience in singing “Happy Birthday” to her.
Earlier in the ceremony, Miranda was honored with a musical tribute featuring songs from his works, including Hamilton, Moana, Encanto, the live-action The Little Mermaid, and Mufasa: The Lion King.
Instead of the usual speech, the Tony- and Grammy-winning songwriter changed up the lyrics to A Part of Your World.
"I'm grateful for you, for believing in me. God, what a time. Grateful that I'm part of your world."
The 2026 class also includes former Disney CEO Bob Iger, the Jonas Brothers, voice actor Alan Tudyk, animator Eric Goldberg, Hercules (1997) star Susan Egan, sports broadcaster Chris Berman, and Imagineer Kim Irvine.
The ceremony capped D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, which ran from Aug. 14 to 16 in Anaheim and featured announcements and previews across Disney’s film, television, animation, and theme park properties.
The 2026 inductees bring the total number of Disney Legends to more than 300 since the honor was established in 1987.
