After a hiatus of more than a year, the Miss World Philippines is back. Last week, it announced that the 2021 edition of the pageant will be held on July 20.

The announcement, of course, comes with the reveal of the pageant's 45 candidates. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Miss World Philippines national director Arnold Vegafria said that over 300 women applied to be part of this year’s pageant.

“This is a good batch with many coming from the provinces and dominated by morena beauties,” he said.

A number of the contestants in this year's Miss World Philippines' pageant are familiar names to pageant fans. Ganiel Krishnan, who covers entertainment news for ABS-CBN TV programs, is one of the pageant veterans who are part of the Miss World Philippines roster. The 26-year-old TV reporter won the Mutya ng Pilipinas Asia-Pacific International crown in 2016.

Kathleen Paton won the Miss Teen International 2017 pageant in Thailand and the Miss Manila title in 2018.

Singer and actress Emmanuelle Vera is also trying her hand in the pageant scene with this year's Miss World Philippines pageant.
