Love it or hate it: Stars like Kendall Jenner and Megan Fox get risqué in nearly naked dresses
Cutouts and plunging necklines? Easy peasy. Nothing catches the public's attention quite like a fit that leaves little to nothing to the imagination.
In contrast to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West who covered their whole faces at the 2021 Met Gala, some stars opted to bare it all, proudly showing off their assets—and exposing their underwear—in naked dresses.
Though naked dresses aren't exactly new (name us one major Hollywood event where you haven't seen a celeb in a see-through dress), it still wows us. From the strategically placed embellishments down to the wearer's bold confidence (no pun intended), we're impressed at stars who can pull it off without looking too trashy.
For instance, Megan Fox arrived at the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards show in the sheerest nude-colored dress, if we ever saw one. She wore a bedazzled g-string underneath her Thierry Mugler dress.
Not new to the nearly naked dress trend, Kendall Jenner arrived at the Met Gala 2021 red carpet in a jewel-encrusted see-through Givenchy dress. The gown sparkled from head-to-toe, including the crystal-encrusted choker and cold shoulder details, which were inspired by Audrey Hepburn's dress in My Fair Lady.
Also wearing a barely-there dress to the Met Gala this year was Zoë Kravitz. She howed off her sexy figure and toned bum in a chain dress and matching bejewelled thong by Saint Laurent.
Like you, we're still waiting for our invite to the next Hollywood red carpet event. But in case you're planning to go out in sheer clothing, here are some tips that you can use:
- Pick a good quality seamless underwear. If you want something that will give a toning effect, choose a bodysuit instead.
- Always stick to a nude shade that matches your skin tone. To create the illusion of a see-through dress without showing skin, wear a nude lining underneath.
- If you don't like to free the breasts, wear a nipple tape.
- Take photos before you leave and check whether your outfit might give you wardrobe malfunctions under different lighting.
- Just be confident!
