And now, clothing gems by Tim Tam Ong
I have always known Tim Tam Ong as a passionate jeweler whose craftsmanship with gems is exquisite. So pleasantly surprised was I to see her displaying handpainted clothes at the Bench-Katutubo pop-up event a few weeks ago.
“As a jewelry designer, I have always embraced the power of self-expression through art. With my brand Plum and Petunia, I am expanding my creative horizons, introducing handpainted garments while remaining true to my jewelry creation roots,” explains Tim Tam, whose new venture blooms from a lifelong passion for painting, nurtured since childhood.
Influenced by Gustav Klimt and Frida Kahlo, Tim Tam adds: “I draw upon their emotional depth and unique aesthetics. Klimt’s intricate patterns and opulent gold tones inspire me to explore texture and color, intertwining personal narratives with nature. Kahlo’s bold palette and deep connection to nature inspire me to infuse my creations with flora and fauna.”
Her deep love for animals and plants is reflected in her cherished companions—a labrador, a cockatiel, and a slider turtle whose memory she cherishes. “I find joy in cultivating a garden sanctuary filled with aglaonema blooms.”
A key inspiration is her mother, Cezette Constantino, an interior designer who embraced Tim Tam in her creative world.
