Michael Cinco visited Spain for the first time 26 years ago and never left.
“I was so emotional the first time I saw La Sagrada Familia and Al Hambra Palace,” Cinco shares with YStyle. “From the moment I set foot in Spain, I was in awe of its beauty and art, breathtaking architecture, rich artistic heritage, and the vibrant tapestry of its culture. I am always inspired by the works of great Spanish artists like Gaudi, Miro, Picasso, and Dali.”
The Filipino fashion designer from Catbalogan City, now based in Dubai, has collections gracing fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris and dressed some of our generation’s greats: Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and Naomi Campbell. Yet in his heart and in his creative imagination—and every year as a personal tradition since that first encounter—the Spanish masters of arts and architecture guide his work, every collection revealing a new chapter in his design journey, an ongoing story just like the completion of Gaudi’s masterpiece, the Sagrada de Familia.

His third and latest ode to Spain captures the passion of the matadors and flamenco dancers in “The Impalpable Dream of España.”
If there’s one look that must be seen in person, Cinco singles out “The finale dress, a masterpiece born from a challenge. (It) weaves the tapestry of Spanish inspiration into a singular garment,” he says. “A poetic statement, it stands as the culmination, a breathtaking conclusion to the collection, destined to enchant and resonate.”
With this collection, he’s launching two new ways you can wear a Michael Cinco: fragrance and jewelry. “The Michael Cinco Fragrance epitomizes modernity through the seamless integration of art and science,” he sums up the seven genderless scents ranging from bold florals, rich gourmands, and invigorating green and citrus scents.
A 50-piece collection inspired by Spain and the launch of his perfume and jewelry lines await at The Philippine Legacy Gala 2023.
“The jewelry line,” Cinco continues, “merges elegance and nobility with radical and bold pieces. A powerful collection, meticulously crafted from exquisite gemstones, raw diamonds, including amethysts and emeralds, set in gold and silver metals that are hand-finished to perfection.”
Within this range, “you have the option to embrace minimalist designs or indulge in the extravagance of stunning gemstones, offering a versatile and captivating selection,” he says.
He’s bringing it all outside Dubai Fashion Week for the first time at The Philippine Legacy Gala 2023 on Nov. 27 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom, Manila for the benefit of the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation. It’s his way of giving back since he was awarded the Gusi Peace Prize last year.
The Gusi Peace Prize by the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation based in Manila is given to individuals and organizations who contribute to global peace and progress. Proceeds from the gala will benefit The Philippine Missionari Della Fondazione di Carita, Inc. and the Gusi Peace Prize Foundation.
