Hannah Arnold's 'Pamana' National Costume makes Top 8 at Miss International 2022
Better late than never!
Hannah Arnold's national costume for Miss International 2022 was shortlisted for Best in National Costume.
Six months after the final competition, Miss International named the Top 8 finalists for the award through an Instagram post. Among them are reigning Miss International queen Jasmin Selberg of Germany and the Philippines' Hannah Arnold.
Hannah left a comment on the post and thanked the organization and her gown designer.
"Oh my gosh this just made me so emotional. Thank you so much for this special news and thank you Miss International for recognising the beautiful costume of the Philippines made by Sir @manny.halasan & @styledbypatrickhenry, thank you thank you!" she wrote.
According to designer Manny Halasan, the "Pamana" dress was inspired by Hannah's favorite toy, a Barbie doll wearing a Maria Clara Filipiniana. He also "mixed it with his own fond childhood memories of his grandfather’s antique tambourine."
Through Hannah's traditional Filipiniana, he hopes that Filipinos would "remember our childhood experiences and look back on our past."
To finish Hannah's look, Manny also created a headpiece or “payneta” with “real gold with natural diamonds, blue diamonds, and South Sea pearl.”
The Best in National Costume award was given to Nigina Fakhriddinova of Uzbekistan.
Hannah ended her Miss International journey in the Top 15. Kylie Verzosa was the last Filipina to win Miss International in 2016.
