In celebration of its 70th anniversary, the Miss Universe Organization is dropping an exclusive collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) that when owned, will allow ultimate pageant fans across the globe to own a piece of pageant history.

What are NFTs? These are a form of unique digital assets like artworks, viral memes and photos. Historically, these NFTs fetch for thousands of dollars in virtual auctions.

The NFTs titled “Miss Universe Series 1 NFT Collection” will feature images and video clips of historic winners of the competition, the coveted Miss Universe crowns, and the candidates competing in the 70th Miss Universe pageant, which will be held on Dec. 12 in the resort city of Eilat in Israel.

The collection will drop in the Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX) blockchain in three parts, the first one will be on Oct. 28 at 10 a.m. Pacific Time (Oct. 29, 1 a.m. Manila time). The next drops will be sometime in November and December.

The Miss Universe packs are filled with “dazzling” images and clips from seven decades of the pageant—from heartwarming moments to historical crownings.

The Miss Universe NFTs come in different rarities plus a special Golden Ticket.

The first drop will feature trading cards of past Miss Universe titleholders in Standard packs of three ($14.99 or P760) and Premium packs of 12 ($49 or P2,500). These NFTs are expected to sell out quickly given the massive following of the pageant. Only 2,500 Standard packs and 1,500 Premium packs will be available.

These collectibles come in five different rarities:

  • Common - 47.995%
  • Uncommon - 31%
  • Rare - 16%
  • Legendary - 4.8%
  • Exclusive Legendary - 0.2%

In addition, a special Gold Card is randomly included in a pack. Whoever gets this Gold Card in his or her pack will have exclusive access to the pageant as a VIP guest like exploring behind the scenes, meeting the candidates and more.

These cards are built using the WAX blockchain technology that owners can treasure for life. These can also be instantly traded with fellow pageant aficionados or resold on the secondary marketplace online. The blockchain ensures that these collectibles are 100% verifiable as authentic.

To celebrate the launch of the collection, 500 Miss Universe promo packs are up for grabs on Oct. 27, 10 a.m. Pacific Time (Oct. 28, 1 a.m. Manila time). (For details, visit WAX’s Twitter page.)

To participate in the sale of these collectibles, one has to create a WAX Cloud Wallet.

According to WAX, a significant portion of secondary sales revenue of these Miss Universe packs and cards is allocated to philanthropic causes dedicated to fighting against sexual harassment.

Recently, Miss Universe Philippines 2021 launched the world's first beauty pageant NFTs with the theme "Inspire You" that featured the pageant's Top 30 finalists.
