In pursuit of light
Luxury skincare has long promised radiance in a bottle, but La Prairie continues to approach beauty with something more ambitious: the idea that skin can be transformed beyond the surface through science, texture, light, and time itself.
At an intimate gathering at the Writers Bar of Raffles Makati, La Prairie introduced the newest addition to its White Caviar line, the White Caviar Light Infusion Eye Serum, a product designed to target dark circles, puffiness, discoloration, and loss of firmness around the eyes.
The White Caviar collection has always centered on “brightening,” but not in the simplistic sense of surface glow. The line focuses on improving tone, texture, firmness, and the skin’s ability to reflect light more evenly. This new eye serum continues that philosophy with a formula powered by La Prairie’s Exclusive Cellular Complex, caviar micro-nutrients, and Thiamidol, an ingredient introduced during the presentation as significantly more potent than vitamin C (60 times more effective) when it comes to addressing pigmentation and discoloration.
What makes the product interesting is its multi-dimensional approach to dark circles. Rather than treating the under-eye area as a single issue, the serum addresses vascular darkness, pigmentation, and even the hollowed appearance that naturally comes with fatigue and aging. According to La Prairie, the formulation works by helping reduce melanin overproduction while supporting collagen structure and skin renewal.
As guests sampled the products throughout the afternoon, it became clear to me that La Prairie’s appeal lies not only in clinical claims, but also in sensory experience. The textures are featherlight yet rich, luxurious without feeling heavy. Even the fragrance-free eye serum carries that unmistakable feeling of refinement the brand has cultivated for decades.
During the program, host Yanah Laurel Siguion-Reyna spoke about wellness from the inside out, while attendants moved through the room offering guests a chance to experience the White Caviar line firsthand. The afternoon also featured a tea service inspired by the collection, complete with foie gras, caviar savories, and elegant cocktails that mirrored the polished femininity of the brand itself. There was also a station where one can choose scents and end up personalizing your own scented candle.
But beyond the luxury, what lingered with me was the idea of brightness itself. Not harshness, nor artificial glow. Just skin that looks rested, awake, naturally luminous. With La Prairie’s White Caviar line, it simply glows.
