Aljur Abrenica hopes to rekindle friendship with Kylie Padilla: 'Hindi pwedeng kalimutan 'yung sampung taon'
After their controversial breakup, Aljur Abrenica is still hoping that he could still be friends with his estranged wife Kylie Padilla.
In an interview with radio host Jobert Sucaldito, Abrenica revealed that he would always be reminded about his friendship with Padilla in spite of the controversies surrounding their split.
“Magkaibigan talaga kami. Kung titingnan niyo sa sampung taon na pagkakakilala namin ni Kylie, magkaibigan talaga kami. I think sa 10 years, I know she knows this, we’re best friends. Kasi ‘yung isa't isa ‘yung takbuhan namin noon,” he said.
Abrenica admitted that he would never forget his 10 years of friendship with Padilla. “Iba lang ‘yung sitwasyon ngayon. Pero ako, I'm open kasi hindi mo puwedeng kalimutan ‘yung sampung taon niyong pagkakaibigan.”
The actor shared that he watched his estranged wife’s exclusive interview with broadcast journalist Jessica Soho, noting that it made him look back on their happy memories as a couple.
“Ang mga naalala ko ‘yung mga pinagsamahan namin (ni Kylie)... nakita naman ng mga tao na ‘yung appreciation at pagmamahal namin sa isa’t isa. Humantong lang talaga sa hindi na kami masaya,” he added.
Abrenica revealed that he’s “not proud” of the drama surrounding his breakup with Padilla. Last month, he dropped a bombshell urging Padilla to “tell the truth” about their separation and reveal “who wrecked our family.” The controversial post has been deleted.
“Sana matapos na… nasabi ko na lahat ng mga gusto kong sabihin. I’m not proud sa mga nasabi ko, feeling ko nasadsad na,” he said.
Abrenica also shared that he’s constantly been in contact with Padilla, stating they usually coordinate on co-parenting their children Alas and Axl.
“Sa kabila ng lahat nang nangyayaring ito, constant pa rin ‘yung communication namin lalo na kapag tungkol sa mga bata. Tuloy pa rin ang pag-uusap naming dalawa,” he added.
Abrenica and Padilla got married in December 2018. The actress confirmed their split in July 2021.
