Here are the top 10 highest paying jobs in the Philippines, according to PSA
If you're an employee thinking of switching careers or a student deciding which degree to take, then here's the list that you've been looking for.
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Sept. 22 released the results of its 2022 Occupational Wages Survey, which gives a rundown of the highest-paying jobs in the country as of last year.
According to PSA's study, pilots have been soaring on top of the list, with the only occupation that has a six-digit average wage of P135,363 per month.
They are followed by software developers who have a monthly average wage of P70,595, and mathematicians and actuaries who landed as the third highest-paid employees with an average wage of P69,654.
Four of the 10 highest paid occupations are involved in insurance, reinsurance, and pension funding except compulsory social security, such as mathematicians and actuaries (P69,654), applications programmers (P58,643), statisticians (P51,607), and accountants including auditors (P48,982).
Also included in the list are production supervisors and general foremen (P63,017), specialist medical practitioners (P57,476), medical doctors or generalist practitioners (P51,251), and geologists (P49,059).
The data was based on the 193 monitored occupations in 72 selected industries. The survey also found that the average monthly wage rate of full-time, time-rated workers was P18,423 last year, 11.7% higher compared to the P16,486 average in 2020.
On the other hand, some of the lowest earners averaging less than P20,000 per month are most of the food service workers (except accountants), vocational and secondary teachers, bus transport workers, select courier activity workers, pharmacists, and physical therapists, among others.
Those who are averaging less than P30,000 per month include media practitioners; mechanical, chemical, and civil engineers; and coding and proofreading clerks.
Female workers have also been receiving a little more with an average basic pay of P14,916 as compared to males who have P14,413. Both wages have a 6.9% increase compared to the recorded average in 2020.
The PSA also mentioned that the survey specifically monitors data from benchmark occupations, such as accounting and bookkeeping clerks who have a P19,676 average wage, and elementary occupations (unskilled workers) who have a P12,276 average wage.
