Angelica Panganiban on relationship with non-showbiz BF: ‘Slowly, parang nag-open up na ulit sarili mo’
Angelica Panganiban surprised her fans and followers when she revealed in an Instagram post earlier this year that she is in a relationship.
The actress didn’t reveal the identity of her boyfriend when she first posted about her beau on social media. It was only weeks later when Angelica posted a clear photo of her new love—Gregg Homan. Entertainment website PEP.ph reports Gregg is a businessman involved in designing and building boats and watercraft in Subic, Zambales.
During the virtual press conference of her upcoming movie Love or Movie on Feb. 26, Angelica was asked if the decision to love again after her previous failed relationships came naturally to her or if she held back.
“Siguro hindi naman nag-hold back. Nagi-ingat lang,” Angelica said. “Wala naman kasing naging pressure. Yun ang naging difference. Parang kalmado lang dumating yung lahat.”
She added: ”Hindi binigla, hindi pinilit. Parang nangyari na lang siya. Slowly, parang nag-open up na ulit sarili mo.”
The 34-year-old actress has been in a number of relationships with fellow actors in the past, including Derek Ramsay and John Lloyd Cruz.
Angelica admitted that it was natural for her to have a “mataas na wall,” especially when she’s meeting new people when she was single.
“Parang, wala, hindi ko pinapansin. Pinapakita ko na barkada lang ‘to, ganun,” she said.
But Angelica said Gregg “pursued” her. “E, wala na ako nagawa,” she quipped.
As for the surprise reveal of her relationship in January, Angelica said she didn’t intend for it to be a big “reveal.” In fact, there’s a part of her that wishes for her private life to remain private.
“Kaya lang, artista ako, so mahirap din naman na ipagdamot yun sa mga tao,” she added.
Love or money?
In Love or Money, Angelica plays a character who chooses to be in a relationship with a man for money—despite being seemingly in love with someone else.
In real life, what would she choose between love and money?
“Ako, ever since, love,” Angelica said.
But Angelica added that she doesn’t see anything wrong if a person opts to choose money over love.
“Kasi, hind mo pwede husgahan yung mga tao na pipiliin yung money. Kung doon sila magiging masaya, e, or may mga tao na sumuko na talaga sa love. ‘Wala akong swerte dyan, so sarili ko na lang aatupagin ko.’ Iba-iba kasi talaga tayo ng mga pinagdaanan sa buhay. parang wala ako mabibigay na advice kundi magpakatotoo ka lang sa sarili mo kung saan ka magiging masaya then go."
