Philippine National Bank and Mastercard have officially strengthened their collaboration through a formal engagement that supports the development and implementation of tokenization. Formalized at the Conrad Hotel, this collaboration underscores a shared commitment to delivering secure, seamless, and rewarding digital payment solutions for Filipino consumers.

As the banking industry continues to advance toward secure digital technologies, banks are investing in solutions that deliver both protection and ease of use. One of the revolutionary innovations reshaping digital payments in 2026 is tokenization—a technology that replaces card numbers with dynamic tokens for each transaction, thus safeguarding online and in-store payments.

PNB president and CEO Edwin R. Bautista said the launch of tokenized digital wallet integration reinforces PNB’s mission to deliver more seamless digital banking solutions.

“Filipinos are looking for faster and more secure ways to pay every day, and we want to meet that expectation with innovations that make life easier. Tokenization isn’t just a niche security upgrade—it is the future of payments, giving customers smoother and safer experiences. This aligns with our commitment to world-class service powered by trusted technology and partners,” Bautista said.

Tokenization enables biometric authentication and generates a unique device account number in place of a physical card number, making transactions faster, more convenient, and protected by multiple security layers.

Jason Crasto, Country Manager of Mastercard Philippines, said: “This collaboration with PNB underscores Mastercard’s commitment to strengthening the security and convenience of digital payments in the Philippines. Mastercard is proud to support PNB’s vision of leading the future of payments. Tokenization helps strengthen consumer trust by providing a frictionless and secure experience, which supports the growth of the Philippines’ digital payments ecosystem.”

To complement the secure payments experience and provide added value to cardholders worldwide, Mastercard provides additional lifestyle and travel benefits in the form of its suite of exclusive cardholder programs, such as Mastercard Travel Rewards, Priceless Specials, Mastercard Travel Pass, and Mastercard Travel and Lifestyle Services, giving cardholders access to global experiences and curated offers.

PNB’s digital wallet launch reinforces its commitment to future-ready digital experiences and secure e-commerce transactions. With tokenized digital wallet integrations, PNB is building a payments infrastructure that aligns with global standards and evolving customer usage trends.

For cardholders, the message is simple: everyday transactions are becoming safer, simpler, and more effortless—anytime and anywhere.
