Here are some ways you can really show your loved ones that you care
While there are times we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it’s important to take a pause and make time for the people who matter.
Telling your loved ones that you care about them could only mean something if you follow through them with concrete actions. It doesn’t always have to be grand—sometimes, even the little things and sweet moments are worth treasuring, too.
Here are some of the best ways you can maintain your precious relationships and really show your loved ones that you care, according to psychologist Lordy Santos.
Remind them to put themselves first no matter how busy they can get
“Adults often prioritize others over themselves, sometimes even losing sight of their own well-being in the process,” said Santos. “Reminding them to check in with themselves every now and then gives them the message that, despite the many obligations we juggle on a day-to-day basis, we care enough for them to remind them of their fundamental responsibility to care for themselves.”

If you know they need to drink more water, remind them to stay hydrated. If you know they haven’t been sleeping well in the past few days, remind them to catch some Zs. As you do these, make sure not to be a nag or you might just annoy them in the end.
Send them a quote, a meme, or a reel that reminded you of them
It could be a memory you shared, an inside joke, or an unforgettable conversation that never fails to make the both of you laugh no matter how much time has passed.
According to the psychologist, this can easily bring a moment of joy and laughter to someone's day. “These small acts can boost feel-good chemicals in the brain, helping to lift their spirits, increase energy levels, and reduce distress, even just for a moment.”
Help tick items off their to-do list
One of the best ways to show your love and care is to help them get closer to their goals or make their lives a little lighter, per Santos. Make time and go out of your way to offer a hand.
“The weight of an overwhelming to-do list can be mentally draining for most,” he said. “Knowing that they have a reliable support system at work or at home is what they need, especially when things feel too much to handle alone.”
Surprise them with a 'just because' gift
Did a pair of socks you saw at a store make you think about them? How about a cute mug that they might like? These things don’t cost a dime but could surely put a smile on their face. Accompany it with a sweet note to make it even more special.

“This can trigger a surge of positive emotions, boosting morale and courage to face future challenges with a better perspective,” per Santos.
Listen deeply
When they need a friend, be right by their side. Listen to what they’re saying and try to understand where they’re coming from. Share a laugh and offer advice, but only if they need it. Sometimes, all they need is a shoulder to lean on, a source of comfort, without much talk.
“The power of being present is often enough,” added Santos.

Such thoughtful gestures, though simple, could make all the difference. It’s just like how Unilab has shown care to Filipinos in different parts of the country for 80 years now through their wide selection of trusted and high-quality brands of medicines and vitamins, as well as patient-centered advocacy programs for health.
‘Simpleng alaga’
As it marks its eighth decade in the Philippines, Unilab is upholding its commitment to changing the lives of Pinoys through “Alagang Unilab.”
Be it through medicines or kind gestures, the pharmaceutical company is looking to make small acts of care and compassion or ‘simpleng alaga’ reach different households and communities.
Such inspiring narratives showcase how Unilab has been a reliable companion for many Filipinos—including those in underserved areas through the years, shaping the overall health of various families and empowering members of the health sector such as local leaders, health workers, and advocates with all the support they need.
