A billionaire businessman has made the decision to give away $1 million (over P58 million) every week for one whole year.

Rob Hale, who manages a telecommunications company with his wife Karen, said that they are looking to share their blessings with various small non-profit organizations in Boston.

“We’re blessed, we’re very fortunate. Our belief is that we should extend those good tidings as deeply into the community as much as possible,” he said, adding that there’s a myriad of “vital impactful” groups in their community that could use a hand.

According to CBS, their love and generosity “is being felt throughout the state.”

For one, a man behind a foundation that supports cancer patients shared how they were given a cash gift from Hale. “I received a phone call from Rob out of the blue to tell me and my wife that he loves what we do. So, he invested a million dollars into an endowment for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, and that’s a major gift.”

CBS added that the wealthy man has “gifted tens of millions of dollars to local hospitals and institutions, but for most of these smaller nonprofits, this is the single biggest gift they’ve ever received, and many have been around for more than 20 years.”

Hale is aware of how many people they could help with their fortune. “When you realize that you’re helping other people, who are then going to help other people, it makes you feel so good. To me it’s a gift that we actually get,” he said.
