Year of the Wood Snake zodiac signs: Be passionate and compassionate

Published Jan 29, 2025 7:43 am

The sixth in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac signs is the Snake, known to be wise, smart, intuitive and determined. If you were to believe the legend about how the Snake snaked its way to place sixth in the great race to be the Jade Emperor’s guards, the Snake is everything it’s described to be and more.

FYI, geomancer/feng shui master Patrick Lim Fernandez briefly repeats the story: “Many, many years ago, the Jade Emperor held a great race for animals to cross a great river. The order in which they arrive at the Heavenly Gate would be their rank in the royal guards. Not being the best swimmer, the Snake wrapped itself around the leg of the Horse while it was eating. The next day, the Horse got up and started galloping. When the Horse was about to cross the finish line, the Snake jumped from the leg of the Horse to finish sixth, edging out the Horse who finished seventh.”

Patrick hastens to add, “The Snake is regarded as intelligent, without scruples.”

Geomancer/feng shui master Patrick Lim Fernandez shares his 2025 Year of the Wood Snake forecast at Conrad Manila. He also gave his feng shui forecasts at New World Hotel and Solaire Resort North.

But first, the oft-asked question: Who are the lucky signs?

“It depends on what you’re looking at,” Patrick tells us.

Who’s lucky in love/relationship?

“Tiger, Dragon, Snake are lucky in love and relationships with family and friends,” says Patrick. “If they’re single, it’s a good year to find the right partner. The compatibility star is there—you’ll know if he/she is the right one.”

He adds, “If married, this year is a good chance to renew a couple’s commitment to each other.”

The Ox, Rooster, and Monkey are luckier this year, Patrick compares, than the other years because they’re friends with the Snake.

And which are the unlucky signs?

“We say not-so-lucky,” Patrick clarifies. “Again, it depends on different things. Like with regard to illness, the Ox, Rabbit, and Snake should watch out for their health and injuries. The Ox, Monkey, and Rooster should be wary of conflicts with family, friends, and people at work.”

Patrick gives an overall view: “The yin wood sign of the Snake is like a vine that needs support, it can’t survive on its own. That means a lot of our luck will come from working through others. It will depend on how we network, bring people together and collaborate so we can get to our end goal.”

The bottom line: Be passionate in what you do but, at the same time, be compassionate to everyone around you who may not be as lucky as you are.

And now, here’s a sneak peek at what’s in store for each of the zodiac signs, according to their rank in the great race:

Rat (1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, 2020)

While you’re caught up in the daily rat race, the Jade Hall Star brings you luck in investment diversification. The more diverse your sources, the better it will be for you. Seek advice/wisdom from older people like family members or co-workers.

There are times in the year when you may feel life is hard, but fret not because you have the BID (Blessings In Disguise) Star.

Don’t run and hide now, Rat, because people will be attracted to you—but you have to tame that attractiveness a bit this year.

Be forewarned that you have the feng shui disaster energy.
