Marjorie Barretto tells daughter Julia’s bashers: ‘You better know when to stop… I’ll tell the truth’
Marjorie Barretto has kept quiet when her daughter, actress Julia Barretto, was being bashed online, especially during the past couple of years.
But it seems the 47-year-old mother of four won’t stay quiet for too long if this individual who has been targeting and criticizing Julia will not stop.
In Toni Gonzaga’s video titled “Why public opinion and bashers don't matter to Marjorie,” which was posted on her YouTube channel on Sunday, May 16, Marjorie opened up about feeling frustrated over the hate Julia has gotten online—especially since she knows “the truth.”
“Julia has been through so much issues since she was 16,” she said. “But sometimes, it is so frustrating when you know the truth.”
“Kasi, I don’t know kung people-pleaser ako dun, maybe ayoko isipin ng mga tao na palengkera ako, ganiyan. Pero meron akong moments, I’ll tell you.”
And it seems Marjorie is pertaining to a particular individual, as she said: “And I always tell my kids... I wanna remind that person that always hits on my daughter, ‘Buhay pa nanay niya, ha. Buhay na buhay ako. You better know when to stop’.”
Marjorie noted that she’s not bothered by online bashers, whom she can easily block and delete.
“It’s when these people who continuously try to paint a really ugly picture of my daughter,” she said.
“I just want to remind them na may hangganan. I can be nice, I can be quiet. But when I do talk, I’ll tell the truth.”
Asked why she doesn’t want to defend Julia now and tell “the truth,” Marjorie said Julia has asked her not to.
“She can still handle it,” Marjorie said. “But I think she also saw that in me. She saw that in me na kahit ano nang ina-accuse sa akin, I just keep quiet.”
“You know, I let things just... nakikita niya yun sa akin kaya siguro ganun siya.”
Julia has been the subject of a number of showbiz controversies. In 2019, her personal life was scrutinized by showbiz fans and followers after she was dragged into the break up between actor Gerald Anderson and actress Bea Alonzo.
Earlier this year, Gerald admitted that he is in a relationship with Julia.
