Cops arrested a Japanese man named Takashi Miyagawa, 39, after he scammed as many as 35 women into serious relationships just to get free fake birthday gifts.

Miyagawa, who is a part-time worker and from the Kansai region, told his girlfriends different birthdays so that he’d have presents on different dates.

He told one of his girlfriends, a 47-year-old woman, that his birthday is on Feb. 22. While two of his other lovers think that his birthday is in July and April, when in fact it’s actually Nov. 13.

SoraNews24 reported that Miyagawa has victimized at least 35 women, but the Japanese news site also believes that there are more.

All in all, Miyagawa was accused of defrauding the women out of a total of 100,000 Japanese Yen (P44,800) worth of clothes and cash.

But this leads us to the question: How did he meet all these women?

Turns out, Miyagawa works at a marketing company selling hydrogen water shower heads. He targeted single women who are ready to settle down.

Additional reports say that he also cheated them out of expensive tailored suits and managed to sell them the shower device he was promoting.

These women then joined together and formed a “Victims’ Association” and reported him to the police in February.
