A year after confirming she was "hurt" and "betrayed" during her marriage with Tom Rodriguez, Carla Abellana opened up one of the hardest lessons she learned in life.

The 37-year-old actress shed light on this in a short video she posted on Instagram on Saturday, Aug. 12. In the five-second clip, Carla is seen saying, "One of the hardest life lessons is to forgive someone who was never truly sorry."

She captioned the short reel with a light bulb emoji and didn’t mention to whom her cryptic post was referring to.

The Kapuso star has been open about her journey to healing following her controversial split with her estranged husband Tom in 2022. The long-time couple got married in October 2021 and confirmed their split in June the following year.

As for the reasons for their fallout, Carla had previously mentioned it was due to mounting problems, especially the “disrespect” and “lying.”

“Napakaraming dahilan kung ililista po natin yan, but basically, bottom line is, umabot na po sa breaking point, kumbaga sobra na po," Carla said during her appearance in Fast Talk with Boy Abunda in February.

"There was disrespect, there was the lying, there was no change. Hindi po 'yun first time na nangyari sa akin pero ito po ay taken to a different level. You get to the point na it's too much already,” she added.

Despite all this, the Rosalinda star admitted that she had forgiven Tom, after finally forgiving herself first. "For you to be able to forgive kailangan po ako, Tito Boy, ang lagi kong sinasabi, I have to forgive myself first. So yes, I have. Wala man po sa hitsura, but I have,” she said.

She also mentioned that she no longer plans to remarry but stressed that she is open to meeting a new love.

“Ayoko nang mag-asawa, nabanggit ko na yan. Ayoko na, sa totoo lang," she said, but noting that “nothing is certain.”

"Di ko siya pipilitin, di ko siya hahanapin, pero kung dumating, welcome siya sa akin,” she added. "Ayoko din namang magmatigas, ayoko din naman nun."
