Carlos Yulo is coming back stronger as he struck gold and bronze in the recently concluded 2021 All-Japan Senior & Masters Gymnastics Championship on Sept. 23. The event was his first gymnastics stint since finishing 4th in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics vault finals.

Yulo achieved gold in the floor exercise with a score of 15.300 points, while he got bronze in the vault with a tally of 15.000.

His long-time coach Munehiro Kugimiya shared the win on social media with photos of Yulo alongside his fellow athletes. The coach also captioned the photo with "#Revenge the Tokyo," a nod to Yulo failing to secure a podium finish in the recent Olympics.

The 21-year-old has promised that he will bounce back following his Tokyo performance.

"Hindi naging madali yung daang tinahak namin, pero sulit lahat ng pagod at iyak. Maraming salamat din po sa mga taong nag dasal at sumuporta saamin," he had shared on Facebook after the games.

"Babalik po kaming malakas!"

He will remain in Japan to defend his world title in the 2021 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Kitakyushu, Japan from October 18 to 24.
