Over 100 families in Sitio Pintor in Rodriguez, Rizal celebrated Christmas early last Dec. 11 as McDonald’s, through its charity of choice, Ronald McDonald’s House Charities (RMHC), and Coca-Cola Philippines hosted performances, games, giveaways and more in this remote area of Barangay San Isidro.
Barangay Chairwoman Mae Hernandez welcomed McDonald’s and Coca-Cola to San Isidro, saying that the festivities are exactly what the families need this holiday season.
“Ito ang pinaka-bonggang celebration na talagang nagbigay sa atin ng pagpapahalaga, pagkakalinga sa Sitio Pintor,” Hernandez said as she greeted the families who participated in the event.
McDonald’s, through its charity of choice Ronald McDonald’s House Charities (RMHC), partnered with Coca-Cola in hosting the Christmas party for the community in Sitio Pintor. Meals were distributed courtesy of McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen. There were also noche buena packs given away to the over 460 families who attended, which included 8-pc Chicken McShare and a Coca-Cola 1.5L bottles and Happy Meal toys. There were game booths and photo walls for everyone to enjoy and help them feel the spirit of the holiday season.
Coca-Cola’s Senior Key Accounts Manager Anna Taruc said that her company is only too happy to partner with McDonald’s on the Share the Light campaign.
Kids were delighted to see Ronald McDonald, Hamburglar, Birdie and Grimace in person. The popular McDonald’s characters treated everyone with a lively performance. Topping off the morning’s entertainment was KZ Tandingan, who delighted those who attended—regardless of age.
She said that McDonald’s is happy to share these moments with the families of Sitio Pintor, especially after two years of not being able to celebrate together with families and loved ones because of the pandemic.
McDonald’s has long been involved in community outreach programs, through initiatives such as Read-to-Learn Program, Bahay Bulilit, McDonald’s Kindness Kitchen, and their Happy Meal Donation Drive.
RMHC is currently receiving donations for its several CSR initiatives. Sharing the light doesn’t stop in Rizal. RMHC has also donated Happy Meal toys to other partner beneficiaries including the local government units of Pasig, Quezon City, Pasay, Manila, Antipolo, government agencies such as Office of the First Lady, Philippine Air Force, Philippine Navy, MMDA and NGOs.
