Chris Watts seeks to marry while in jail for killing wife and daughters: report
Chris Watts, who was sentenced to life in prison after murdering his pregnant wife and two daughters, is reportedly seeking to marry his girlfriend he met while incarcerated.
According to a report by The Daily Mail, Chris' relatives told the outlet that he and his girlfriend, realtor Lizzie Henderson, are planning to marry while he's serving five consecutive life sentences.
Citing her former stepfather, the report said the 39-year-old realtor submitted a marriage request to prison officials. She was also photographed wearing a ring on her wedding finger.
Lizzie also reportedly applied to change her last name to Watts in September 2025 and has since relocated from Ohio to Wisconsin so she could frequently visit Chris in his maximum-security cell at Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun.
She confirmed her relationship with Chris to the outlet over the phone. While she acknowledged that people may see it as "weird," she told The Mail that "How things began is between me, him and God."
When asked about what she feels about his crimes, the realtor told The Mail, "He knows. He knows how I feel. I don’t know all the people involved, but I would want to respect them.”
She also referred to the killings as “something harsh for anyone to experience.”
According to reports, Lizzie visited Chris 20 times in 2025 and spent Christmas Day with him the year before. She was also reportedly seen kissing and getting intimate with the convicted killer during a visit last August.
Inmates in Wisconsin may apply to marry while incarcerated, but their requests must meet the state’s eligibility requirements and go through an approval process.
It was previously reported that Chris has been receiving—and responding—to love letters while he's incarcerated. The letters include sexy photos of his admirers.
Chris was sentenced to life in prison for killing his wife, Shanann, and their daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3. The couple, who met in 2010 and married in 2012, were also expecting a son at the time of the killings.
He reportedly strangled Shannan, 34, then smothered his kids on Aug. 13, 2018. He was later arrested and charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder.
Per authorities, Chris confessed to committing the murders because he was having an affair with a co-worker and asked for a separation from Shannan. Days before the murder, the wife confided about her crumbling marriage to a close friend.
A Netflix documentary, titled American Murder: The Family Next Door, was released in 2020 about the case.
