How to watch Alex Eala's matches at the National Bank Open on Aug. 6
Fresh from clinching her first WTA title, Alex Eala is set to return to the courts for the National Bank Open this August.
The Pinay tennis star is set to begin her Canadian Open campaign on Aug. 6 at around 9 a.m. (Philippine time), when she takes on American Alycia Parks on Centre Court in the second round after receiving a first-round bye, which automatically advanced her past the opening round.
The two will meet again nearly seven months after their first-round encounter at the Australian Open in January. Eala cruised to a 6-0 first-set win before Parks rallied to claim the next two sets, 6-3, 6-2, ending Eala's campaign.
Should Eala advance, she could be headed for another familiar foe, Linda Nosková, in the third round.
Eala will also compete in the doubles event alongside seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Venus Williams, who began her singles campaign as a wildcard in her 13th Canadian Open appearance against Uzbekistan's Kamilla Rakhimova. They previously teamed up at the Bad Homburg in June.
The pair are scheduled to open their doubles campaign on Thursday night against Miyu Kato and Liudmila Samsonova.
How to watch
Tickets for Eala's Centre Court opener sold out almost immediately after her match time was announced. Fans in the Philippines who can't watch from the stands can catch the action on Premier Sports and Premier Sports 2 via Cignal Play and the BlastTV app. The match will also be available to stream on DAZN Philippines.
Eala recently made her dream run at the Mubadala DC Open. She defeated Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen in the first round, defending champion and 7th seed Leylah Fernandez in the Round of 16, and No. 2 seed Elina Svitolina in the quarterfinals with a 6–3, 6–4 triumph.
The semifinals pitted Eala against four-time Grand Slam champion and No. 3 seed Naomi Osaka, with Eala clinching a 6–4, 6–2 victory. She claimed her first WTA title on Aug. 4 after defeating top seed Jessica Pegula.
National Bank Open, also known as the Canadian Open, will run until Aug. 14.
