Calling all filmmakers! This free workshop teaching animation is accepting applicants
Attention, filmmakers! If you want to expand your craft, here's something to try: A free workshop on animation is now accepting applications.
The class will teach traditional animation techniques like hand-drawn, stop-motion, and mixed media, with instructors Nelson B. Caliguia, who has worked on Tom and Jerry, The Powerpuff Girls, Lilo & Stitch, and Dexter's Laboratory; comics creator Dennis E. Sebastian; interdisciplinary artist Teta Tulay; and facilitator Ricky Orellana, who directed In Manila (1989).
"This workshop will inspire our filmmakers to incorporate animation techniques into their films, bringing fresh ideas to storytelling and rendering," the Mowelfund Film Institute said in a post.
The animation workshop for filmmakers is free, and interested applicants must form a group of three members to register.
Slots are limited, so the organizers, which also include the Film Academy of the Philippines and Great Media Productions, will interview all applicants.
If you're interested, you need to fill out this form, where you'll submit a valid ID and 2x2 photo, your sample work portfolio, and a video pitch for a one-minute final project with the theme, "Tell me you're Filipino without telling me you're Filipino."
Selected aspirants will be notified before Sept. 28.
The workshop will run for 12 weeks (four days a week) until Dec. 16 from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Mowelfund Center in Brgy. Immaculate Conception, Cubao, Quezon City.
