Black panther dies after getting hit by a car in Malaysia
A black panther got fatally struck by a multi-purpose vehicle at Simpang Pertang in Malaysia.
According to The Straits Times, police chief Maslan Udin explained that the accident took place when the adult male panther “suddenly crossed from the right side of the road” as a 38-year-old driver “made a right turn down the hill.” It happened so fast that he was left with no time to make a turn to avoid hitting the animal.
“The panther managed to make its way to a nearby drain and eventually died. The man and his family did not suffer any injuries,” he added.

The Straits Times said that the remains of the 40-kg creature have been taken by the Negeri Sembilan Wildlife Protection and the National Parks Department.
The same report stated that the Malay peninsula has the biggest population of black panthers in the world, according to Panthera—an organization exclusively for the conservation of wild cats across the globe.
