A Citibank executive was found beaten to death in her home, prompting UK authorities to launch an international search for her attacker.

Marianne Kilonzi, Vice President of Trade and Working Capital Sales at Citibank UK, was found dead in her home in Woolwich in southeast London. Her body was discovered after the local police responded to a call about “concerns to the welfare” of Kilonzi, Metropolitan Police Service spokesperson Will Staynes told PEOPLE Magazine.

According to a BBC report, the 43-year-old's autopsy revealed that the cause of her death was blunt-force trauma and a head injury.

Authorities believe that Kilonzi knew her attacker.

"We believe the suspect was known to Marianne and there is no wider risk to the public,” said Suzanne Soren, Detective Chief Inspector and leader of the murder investigation. They added that they will not release any details of the suspect, but they are currently probing whether they may have gone abroad.

Citibank UK expressed their grief in a statement.

“We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague,” the bank’s spokesperson said in the statement, per BBC. "Our thoughts are with Marianne's family and friends during this difficult time."

Kilonzi worked as an assistant vice president of the bank for 15 years, before taking the role of Vice President, Treasury and Trade Solutions for Citibank in Kenya, as stated in her LinkedIn page. She started working in her current position in June 2023.
