PHLPost launches next-day delivery service
Metro Manila residents are set to receive their packages quicker with the launch of Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost)'s next-day delivery service.
"The new delivery system aims to optimize service across the densely populated region, which represents a significant portion of PHLPost's delivery volume," the agency said in a Facebook post.
Alvin Fidelson of PHLPost’s Corporate Communications Division, in a statement shared by the Philippine Information Agency, said there are express mail service (EMS) hubs in Manila, Quezon City, and Makati.
Those will complement the Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC) in Pasay, which Fidelson noted handles the majority of express mail deliveries in the capital.
Quezon City will serve Caloocan, Malabon, Marikina, Navotas, Novaliches, Quezon City, and Valenzuela; Makati will serve Makati, Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Pateros; Manila will service Manila and San Juan. The CMEC serves Pasay, Muntinlupa, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Taguig.
“The new hubs will allow EMS personnel and couriers to operate more efficiently closer to customers, reducing delivery times and improving service accessibility,” he said in a statement.
Undelivered items will be held for seven days, giving customers enough time to request redelivery or the option to pick their items up—without the need to go to the CMEC.
PHLPost also noted that under the new service structure, domestic express mail sent from post offices after the cut-off time will be delivered within 48 hours.
Cut-off time varies per location, the agency said, with most areas in Metro Manila requiring items to be mailed by 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m., depending on the post office.
