Applying for a Japan visa? Processing will now take two months
Heads up, travelers: Japan visa processing will now take longer.
The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines recently updated its guidelines for visa application adding that aspiring visitors should file their documents at least two months before their trip.
"Due to the rapid increase in the number of visitors from the Philippines, examination of visa applications for tourism purposes, may take several weeks longer than the standard processing time. Therefore, we highly recommend for applicants to please apply at least two months prior to the date of travel," the embassy's website read.
Travel agencies are advising to file applications at least three months before a trip.
This applies to single-entry and multiple-entry temporary visitor visas.
Previously, it took about seven to 10 business days to process a Japan visa.
Among the requirements for a Japan visa application include a valid and signed Philippine passport with at least two blank pages, the visa application form, an itinerary in the country, a passport photo, a bank certificate, an income tax return, an original birth certificate, and an original marriage certificate (if married).
