Talk about luck: Man wins 365 days of paid leave in company raffle
For most people, the chances of winning in a company raffle are slim to none. But this man in Schenzen, China seemed to have caught all the luck by winning a year's worth of paid leave.
According to a report by The Straits Times, an employee, who holds a managerial position in an unnamed company and often travels as part of his job responsibility, was left stunned upon knowing that he won the grand prize at their annual company dinner on Sunday.
His video showing him holding a big cheque with “365 days of paid leave” written on it went viral.
The company dinner was the first in three years due to the pandemic, and the raffle was done to help its employees relieve stress from everyday work.
One of its employees, Ms. Chen, shared that the winner has the option to avail the paid leave or encash the equivalent amount. She also shared how the winner was bewildered and kept asking if the prize was real.
Meanwhile, netizens shared their sentiments on Douyin app—a sister company of TikTok, inquiring whether there are any job vacancies in the company.
“Dare he accept the prize? After a year, he might return to find someone else in his role,” one user wrote.
While others suggest he encash it instead, fearing that he will lose his job after getting the paid leave.
“[Rough translation] Discount it. After taking a year off, your position has been replaced by someone else."
