Presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos officially announced Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio as his running mate for the 2022 national elections.

Marcos said on Nov. 16 that his party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), and Duterte-Carpio's Lakas-CMD agreed to push for the unified ticket.

Duterte-Carpio also announced the ticket on Facebook, saying that she called for ruling party PDP-Laban to support Marcos, which they rejected.

Tinanggihan ito ng PDP at naiintindihan natin ito," she said in a video statement.

PDP-Laban's presidential candidate, Sen. Bong Go, issued a statement on this, saying that to his knowledge, the party has not rejected anything.

"I will let the PDP leadership clarify these matters in due time. Being the administration party, we have always exerted efforts to reach out to those who are supportive of PRRD," he said on Nov. 17.

He also said that the president's daughter is his choice for VP. "We always wish her well. As I have said earlier, kung ako lang ang tatanungin, siya ang aking sinusuportahan sa pagka-bise president."

Over the weekend, President Duterte said Sen. Bong Go cried when he learned Duterte-Carpio would be running against him for the vice president post.

The former presidential aide has withdrawn his candidacy for VP and filed for president under Pederalismo ng Dugong Dakilang Samahan.

Duterte, who is eyeing a Senate seat in the coming elections, also expressed disappointment over his daughter running for the No. 2 position instead of president.

But as the Davao City mayor clarified, she and Marcos will "continue and expand" on her father's legacy.
