Philippines hits another record high of 8,773 new COVID-19 cases

The Philippines recorded the most number of new COVID-19 cases in a single day on Thursday, March 25.

The Department of Health (DOH) reports  8,773 additional COVID-19 cases today. This brings the total number of active COVID-19 cases in the country to 99,891—or 14.1% of the 693,048 total confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, 56 additional fatalities and 574 recoveries were reported.

The DOH added that based on the reports from Wednesday, March 24, 16.1% of the 35,480 persons tested were positive of COVID-19.

This comes days after the government restricted travel into and out of NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal amid the surge of new COVID-19 cases in the country.
