Someone carved the word ‘Trump’ on the back of a manatee
The United States Fish and Wildlife Service is now hunting for the one responsible for carving the word “Trump” on the back of a manatee.
The poor manatee was spotted along a river off Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Federal Service officer Craig Carvana told the local newspaper Citrus County Chronicle that the issue is now part of an “ongoing investigation.”
Carvana said that the one responsible will face a fine of up to $50,000 and a year in prison for harming the protected species.
A spokeswoman for the US Fish and Wildlife Service was reported as saying that the animal, classified as “threatened” under US wildlife protection laws, does not appear to be seriously injured.
Photos of the mutilated manatee, including the one below, went the rounds on social media.
