Bride asks sister to leave her wedding after she didn't follow the color scheme

Everything is perfect—that’s what this bride thought before her sister showed up on her wedding day in a purple dress despite emphasizing that the dress code is yellow.

A recent Reddit post in the popular "Am I the A-hole" subreddit detailed a 25-year-old bride's wedding plans. She outlined her vision for the ceremony, including color schemes designed to evoke a particular atmosphere that matched the couple's favorite hues. The bride assigned yellow outfits to her guests, blue to the groom's friends, and green to their mutual acquaintances.

The uploader emphasized that she did not require the guests to wear the assigned colors from head to toe. She even suggested wearing neutral-colored accessories or any of the other assigned colors like blue and green.

She asked the participants not to wear colors outside of the scheme.

The bride’s sister, Jen, strongly disliked yellow and declared she wouldn’t wear the assigned color. Unfazed, the bride dismissed Jen’s objection as a joke, threatening to remove her from the wedding if she didn’t comply.

Fast forward to the day of the wedding, Jen came in a purple dress.

Claiming that since her parents didn't support or fund the event, she decided to kick her sister out of the wedding.

“I told her to leave immediately,” she said.

“The color scheme was perfect, and she ruined it. Jen refused to leave until I threatened to call security,” she wrote in the post.

The bride shared that the wedding went smoothly without her sister’s presence, but her parents were unhappy about the decision.

"I told them this was MY wedding that I threw without their support, so I can kick out whoever I want to," she explained.

The bride explained in detail that she and her sister had a long-standing conflict stemming from their childhood. Her sister had received preferential treatment due to health issues after being adopted. Understanding the reasons for this imbalance, the bride wasn’t surprised by her parents’ angry reaction to her decision to exclude her sister from the wedding.

Knowing that she received mixed reactions from family and friends, the bride asked for comments and opinions on the platform about her situation.

In a recent update, she shared that she felt "guilty" the past few days, but her fellow Redditors made her realize she is "not the bad guy and it is okay that I responded the way I did."

The uploader shared that they are working things out in the family and that "Jen is getting the help she needs."

"I’m open to having more of a relationship with them, but I don’t think we’ll ever be a super tight-knit family. Some wounds are too deep. But instead of dwelling on the past, I’m looking towards my future—starting a family with Kip, and making sure I don’t make the same mistakes my parents did," she ended.
