Man ends up marrying dead son's girlfriend, says it's 'true love'
A man claimed that he found "true love" in his late son's partner and then ended up marrying her.
According to a report by South China Morning Post, the 86-year-old man identified as Uncle Biao registered his marriage with the woman that his son left behind when he died in February due to liver disease.
The woman surnamed Wang, who is 33 years younger than him, lived under the same roof as Uncle Biao and his son.
Biao and Wang developed a close relationship in their home.
The SCMP reported that Wang is accused of marrying the elderly man because "she wanted to prevent him from being sent to a nursing home" after Qin, the old man's daughter, bared her plan to send him away and lease his house.
Qin alleged that Wang only married her father for his money and property—a claim that Biao dismissed. He stressed that Wang never asks him for money and looks after him willingly.
"She treats me well out of true love," the elderly man is quoted as saying.
He said he will pass his inheritance to "whoever takes good care of him," per the media outlet.
Biao's residence is registered under the name of his first wife, who passed away in 2022. Any transfer of ownership would require his daughter's consent.
