An Indian food blogger is under arrest for allegedly murdering his girlfriend, chopping up her remains, and keeping them in a refrigerator for weeks.
28-year-old Aftab Ameen Poonawala was captured by the Delhi Police just this Saturday, Nov. 12 for strangling his live-in partner, 26-year-old, Shraddha Walker, whom he met through a dating app.
Delhi senior police officer Ankit Chauhan told CBS News that the two had an argument in mid-May when Poonawala's anger got the better of him and he strangled and stabbed his partner..
Indian news outfit NDTV said that the suspect had been inspired by the US crime show, Dexter, which sees one criminal utilizing a refrigerated truck to keep his victims.
The site also said that Poonawala had chopped her body into 35 pieces and bought a 300-liter fridge to keep the pieces, before disposing of it little-by-little later on.
Other news sites have also reported that the motive was because Poonawala did not want to get married, although the court has not shed further evidence of the claims.
Meanwhile, the suspect remains in police custody and is expected to go on trial in the days to come.
