Parties, activities with loud music banned in Boracay on Good Friday

Parties and other activities with loud music will be banned on Good Friday in Boracay, the local government of Malay said.

“Please be informed that pursuant to the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 015, series of 2009, Municipal Mayor Frolibar Bautista issued Memorandum Order No. 2024-36: non-issuance of Special Permit for the conduct of parties in Boracay Island on Good Friday,” the LGU said in an advisory posted on Facebook on Wednesday, March 27.

Parties and activities with loud music won’t be allowed from March 29, 6:00 a.m. to March 30, 6:00 a.m.

“Let us observe the spirit of this holiday,” the Malay government said.

Boracay underwent a six-month rehabilitation program in 2018, after which parties were banned on the beach and were only exclusive to establishments.

It revived the parties last February to attract tourists.

The country, meanwhile, is observing Holy Week, during which Catholics and Christians commemorate and reflect on the crucifixion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
